Don't be embarassed! You're not crazy! It took me FOREVER to find a colorist I was happy with. And once I find one, it works out for a while ... and then goes downhill and I'm doing the "big search" yet AGAIN. You gotta kiss a lot of frogs as they say ... Anyway, it's YOUR hair and your hard earned money! You should get what you want.

My advice to you (if you don't already do this) is when you want something new TALK it over in depth/go for a consultation. Also, bring PICTURES along with you. Bring pictures of what you DO like and also of what you DON'T want/like. Make SURE they undertand what you want; have them repeat it back to you and maybe even show you color swatches.

And just because a salon is "prestigious" doesn't mean they're good. We've got a few of those around here and all they do is charge you an arm and a leg for mediocre service and a whole lotta attitude. Good luck!

If I follow you correctly, it sounds like she put in lowlights to offset the continual highlighting...?

If the "brown" at the ends used to be lighter (highlighted), the brown will fade.  I'd give it a week and see how it looks then.

If you're still unhappy, I would go back and explain specifically what you're unhappy about and ask her to talk through what she will do to correct the problem.  (Instead of you talking and her nodding, the two-way dialog will help eliminate misunderstandings.)

I think it's better to find someone you can build a relationship with and rely on to correctly fix mishaps, than to bounce around to different people.  You've been going to this person for 7 years, right?  If this is the first time in 7 years that she's messed up the color, I'd give her the chance to fix it.

My former colorist ~ before I moved ~ once did my roots and I could tell right away they looked too light.  At the time she thought it was my imagination.  I went back a couple of days later and she immediately said, "Oops - the roots are a full level lighter!" and fixed it.

Try not to look at is as though you're "complaining."  You're pointing out that it didn't come out as expected - it looks different than every other time she's done it.

I hope you were able to put on a hat and enjoy your birthday!

Strand test, strand test, strand test!

Help!!! Here's the situation..about 8 weeks ago got hilites (always have hilites) my hairdresser of 7 years messed them up and i got them fixed....they were growing in, so wanted a touch up on them & ended up w/ blonde on the top and brown on the bottom and it's way too blonde on the top, instead of just touching them up, seems there are new streaks- she was supposed to low light, but I don't see low lights anywhere...i just see stripes and it looks terrible- dilemma is- i don't want to complain AGAIN at the same salon because I am so embarrased....the last time I complained the girl wouldn't fix my hair and basically ended our relationship....thinking a glaze may cover the hi-lights, do i go back and get it done for free then make a clean break from this prestigious salon (only go there because they are open sundays) or just eat the cost and go somewhere new?? I am mortified that I did this- once again and it's crazy but it is ruining my life because I did it to myself....I told her I just didn't like the regrowth; but still wanted some hilights- she said she'd put back some brown and touch up the highlights; but for some reason it did not turn out that way....feel like a moron.....it's actually my birthday today and don't even want to go out....got up early to see if it will look better after it's washed- i'm going nuts- any ideas??? i can't handle this and am thinking of just covering them completely-  i don't understand why they can't touch up the roots on hi lites w/out hitting new pieces??? I can see the hi lighted pieces, why can't hair dressers???? why do they seem to add more and more and ruin it????????????????
