Hello everyone i'm new here.

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for me?

My hair is naturally light brown/dark blonde,i had bleached it for around 5 years, which i have just finished growing out.(painstaking btw lol).My hair is bra strap length.

Anyway,as a treat for growing out all the bleach,i decided to use shaders and toners in a red colour,it states on the packet 'wash in wash out' lasting roughly 3-5 washes. It came out quite a nice colour, but too my dismay the colour is still there right now,at 6 months on....

I can't believe it,i've tried deep cleansing shampoo's,and lots of washing but it won't come out..you can now even see my roots.I never knew this could happen from a 'wash in wash out' colour.

I've got a feeling someone is going to say the only way to get rid of it is by bleaching it? I hope not.I'm looking to go back blonde, but not the 'all over bleached look' again.

So please if anyone has any advice i'd be extremely greatful.Could i use the home colourants in a blond shade that lifts it 2 levels or would that come out an orange colour?

BTW i can't afford a salon right now.

Here's a couple of pics how it is now. How does my hair look a different colour in the same lighting,i don't know.

Thanks.

Reds a hard color to remove, Best of trying a hairdresser for a correcter or something. With your hair being lighter before the red probably took better.

Since you said you can't afford the salon right now... I'd first call the manufacturer and ask them if they can explain what happened and find out their advice for removal.

Come back here and run it by others before actually doing anything, though!!

I'm not familiar with the product, so I don't know what's in the stuff.  I'll poke around and try to find out (more knowledge of the ingredients will help determine the best/least-damaging way to remove the color).

Strand test, strand test, strand test!

Thankyou so much for the advice.

I'll phone the manufacturer first thing tomorrow and see what they recommend. In the mean time,i phoned a local hairdressers for advice and they told me the only thing i could do is to bleach it,but not advisable at home and told me to go to their salon.I so hope that's not the only way out.

The make i used were 2 different packets within a few days of each other. One is called 'Wella shaders & toners' in 'rich mahogany'and the other one i used is by 'schwarzkopf' which i cannot remember the name of....it might have been live xxl temporary 3-5 washes, something like that.Which was in a reddish colour too.I can't seem to find it on the internet anywhere.

What really makes me angry is my hair was completely natural..it didn't say anything on the packets that i shouldn't use it or that there was a danger that it would last.I'm gutted.

Anyway thanks guys,i'll let you know what they say.

P.S. Is a colour stripper bad to use?

EDIT: I've just found the exact product i used on ebay, except it was in a reddish brown colour.:-

I wonder if you put a toner over it ... ??? It might hold like the red did only "neurtralize" it. Or maybe try something like "Natural Instincts" in a color that's the same as your natural shade. That IS really weird what happened to you. I used to use a red in the Natural Instincts and it never lasted but a couple of months -- and when it wore off it was GONE.
