Color Discrepancies

Sometimes hairdressers are uncertain of how aggressive they can safely be when bleaching your hair.  The only way to get to white is to keep bleacing until every smidge of visible yellow is gone and even then it will generally have to be toned. 

Oh, and you want it to still be attached to your head when it's all done!

It is helpful to have a relationship with your hairdresser.  If you plan your next touch-up before you leave the salon, then you know you will get the time you want with the stylist who knows your hair.

For the record, there is no definition of shades.  It varies greatly from one manufacturer to the next. 

In my eyes, platinum and white are two different colors.  

But even though I am a colorist, I can tell you that I understand your frustration.  When having the salon painted I told them I wanted the walls WHITE (for true color rendition) and they painted it "Acoustic White" which is decidedly yellow.  I asked them how clear I need to be and they told me there are many shades of "white."  I told them I wanted the one that was the opposite of black.  :)
