QuoteReplyTopic: Dry Shampoo & Extension Product Tips Posted: September 15 2006 at 8:27am
I recently tried a product recommended by InStyle and thought I'd pass along the info. Apparently the dry shampoo, called 'Psssssst Instant Spray Shampoo', is one of Jessica Simpson's favorite and I can tell you from experience it's now mine too.
Works amazing to get you through those greasy hair days! I have fine hair with extensions and typically can only go 2 days in between washes....with a little of this particular dry shampoo I can make it now 3-4 days.
Here's a link....I guess you can only get it online right now. I bought 10 cans to stock up. No problems with the aerosol (ignore the reviews).
catwalk fast fix is the best one i have tried plus its a re-styler too so you can use it on the days you don't want to wash it
i just checked out the link and it looked good other than the fact that the top ingredients were alcohol ..and that takes out my extensions. so i guess i will stick to baby powder

have you tried the bumble and bumble one? i think they make it for differnt colors of hair. i want to try it...so if you or anyone has let me know if its better than plain old babypowder!
Ive used it when I used to work in a salon that used Bumble and Bumble products. It comes in a few colours and you just buy the one that matches you're hair colour. It is a powder and it works well. It's like regular baby powder but cos its coloured it blends in better if you know what I mean! If you use baby powder when you're hairs brown it can make it look grey! So for this reason I think its pretty good because you dont get that with this!

Would any of these help with "de-odorizing" the hair? I know that sounds gross..lol. But-- I wear pinchbraids ( which I LOVE!) and try to only wash my hair every 3-4 days. My only issue is that I workout out everyday so alot of sweating is going on. Some days, when my hair is starting to look a bit "grungy"...I throw a hat on..but I have noticed a "wet dog" smell, usually a day or two after not washing my hair. Ewww... ( Geez-- makes me sound like a dirtbag! lol)I am so worried about it, I am afraid others smell it too! I think maybe the braids trap the sweat and the combination with oil from my scalp is causing the problem. I need something for those days! Would this help?
I've tried a bunch of products for detangleing extensions in my takedown. The best detangler I've ever used is: Sebastian Xtah cy-clone silken hair cream. I buy it on ebay, it's amazing. It usually cuts my takedown time in half.
I have a client who wears a hard bond hairpiece, sometimes he gets that "wet dog smell" I think moisture gets trapped inside and this is what is causing the smell. How about using a med. setting blowdryer after workout? Sorry I couldn't be more help on this one. I would love to find something that works.
that pssssst stuff would be great for the smell and such. they usually also sell products for braids n such in bauty supply stores. just ask. they have something for everyone lol
I'm addicted..to hair extensions wheeee

I too have the same problem with having to wash every other day because of my oily scalp. I have been using Algemarina Dry-Shampoo. It comes out white, but once it's in my hair it blends in or melts or something.
Also, another little trick I use to extend between washings is to take all of the hair that is on top of my head that does not have extensions attatched and wash and condition only that. I pull the rest of the hair that has extensions attatched back in a low bun to keep it out of the way.

I tried the psssssst! stuff recently, and i LOVE it. I have fine hair, and if I don't wash it every day, it gets oily at the scalp and I have weft show-through! Ahhhhh! This completely alleviates the problem and looks great. No white or anything like a lot of powder shampoos can have. Great suggestion! LOVE IT!

Regular cornstarch sprinkled through your pinch braids and then dusted off with your clean fingertips mayl help. So will regular cornmeal but use only a tiny bit so you can dust it out which will remove any stale aromas or dirt.
As far as sulfate free stuff goes, Sherrie has some stuff on her website that people have said good things about...and it's affordable! Abba, I believe is sulfate free. Don't quote me on that one, though:)
