I guess I've coloured my hair one too many times?  I highlighted it with Clairol Herbal Essences and it has come out stringy and greasy looking, and it feels like I have loads of gel in my hair.  I've tried washing, conditioning, putting olive oil in it, more washing, more conditioning, but I can't get rid of the greasy look.  Help!  My husband says it looks like I haven't washed my hair in days.  The Clairol help line says I have overprocessed it and can't do much but condition it and let it grow out.  Any other suggestions please?

It may be some kind of chemical deposit. Have you tried a clarifying shampoo or a diluted vinegar rinse? (2 cups water, 1/2 cup vinegar, poured through hair and scalp after shampooing session. Then rinse with water and condition your hair as usual.)
