need advice regarding hair products for extenions

Hello everyone,

I am very excited to be a member considering I have been browsing on this site for quite some time now.  I find the advice and the members to be very nice and helpful.  Not to mention you guys are discussing one of my favorite topics being HAIR.Big%20smile
 
I was wondering if anyone can suggest any good products for hair extensions, the method of hair extensions I have is fusion (strand by strand) ie: shampoo, conditioner or any other hair product.

Well, I went shopping at target yesterday and found an intersesting product, it's SHEEN SPRAY for braids and extensions, it's made by Bronner Bros.

I got it for $3.50, but I think you can buy it anywhere,( I say it's interseting 'cause it says 100% BLACK Owned Company, althought it was sitting next to other hair care products with only black people on the picture, like its specially made for them. )
Its does say BRX Contains no alcohol or OILS that will affect bonded hair, and it smells very nice!

Thank you for the quick response Poose I will definately attempt to find this spray.  I am just really confused because some say that you can use anything because it is real hair and others say you have to watch for silcone, alcohol and oil  based products. 

I am also worried about shedding which I have seem to be getting a lot of when I wash so I am hoping with the right products I can eliminate some of the problem.

The shedding may just be the install, I would say watch that you are not using conditioner at the bonds.

I find with human hair, I can use pretty much anything, I'm horrible with my hair! I think most of the reason for saying no oils and alcohol are so they don't destroy the bonds.

Otherwise, to answer your question, I love any leave in conditioner, and I could not live without biosilk. I put it on the ends, flatiron, curl, and it makes it so soft and silky, but not oily and greasy feeeling. I love that stuff!!

THanks for the reply.  Just wondering where exactly do I put the conditioner, do I start from the nape of the neck and head to the ends?  If this is the correct way how do I conditioner my natural hair on top which is very dry and frizzy.  I have to flat iron the top straight to blend with the extensions which are wavy and long
 
I will also take your advice and get the biosilk which I have used before I had extensions.

There a alot of great products out there to use. The two things I find the MOST beneficial to hair extensions in my experience are a non sulfate shampoo and a shower filter. This is  MY experiences and opinions and Ive noticed great improvement in the performance and longetivity of hair since I changed these two things in my hair care routine.
 
Sulfates are very harsh on hair period, and even harsher on hair extensions. The Sodium Laurel Sulfate is a harsh detergent that is used for foam and bubbles in alot of shampoos, and it really dries the hair.
 
A shower filter is very beneficial if you have city water or dont have a water softener in your house. A shower filter takes the chlorine out of the water. There is MORE chlorine in our tap water than what is in a SWIMMING pool. The chlorine is very drying to the skin and hair.

I am definately a hair junkie to the point that I am made fun of by friends and relatives.  The way I see it I would rather spend money on hair than on anything else.  As my mom and grandmother say "Hair is a womens crowning beauty." Or as I like to say hair can make or break a look. 
 
Anyway excuse the babbling, just wanted to know if you can suggest any shampoos without the harmful sulfate.

there are several good shampoos without sulfates.
 
A few examples are Pureology, Enjoy, Abba, Creme of Nature, Ken Paves Professional has one, The newest one Im checking out is Brocato's Cloud 9 and Splassh lines. There are several others too.

Hopefully I can get these products in Canada.  I am going to check out some of the beauty supply stores around.  Hopefully somewhere like Trade Secrets will have it.
