you know messages like the ones posted about whether a woman looks better with short hair or long hair really fries me. and im a girl. i hear people say "well girls look better with long hair" and then others sayin "girls look better with short hair" but i have NEVER once on this message board seen a guy say "it doesnt matter, i am attracted to someone who has a great personality" yes, obviously 2 people have to be attracted to each other physically, but when it comes down to it, if a guy likes 2 girls, and he likes long hair, and one has long hair and the other has short hair, but the one with long hair has a dull personality, and the one with short hair is a lot of fun to be around....who do you think he is going to choose? unless he was just out for sex, a guy is going to want someone who he can have fun with. and while long hair might be nice to look at for some guys, its not going to keep them interested forever. i will admit, that i am attracted to guys who are clean cut, short hair, no facial hair etc....but thats who i am just right off the bat physically attracted to, so if some guy with a gotee persued me and he was fun and was nice, yeah id give him the chance, and not even give his hair or facial hair a second thought. i have short hair, and i have found that more guys have commented on how they like my hair since its been short, then when it was long. i am trying to grow it out now b/c thats what I want, but i know a lot of girls out there who are like "well im not sure if i want to get my hair cut b/c guys like long hair, or my b/f likes long hair." the guy in that one message was right when he said "guys dont like change" then he went off to say "especially when its a bad one" well a "bad one" is just his opinion, and guys dont like change, b/c they are scared of it. if your girl gets their haircut, they are the same girl, they just look a little different, and in time you will get used to it. but guys have no right to dictate what their g/fs should look like. thats why most of us girls have low self esteem. thats why most of us girls sit here and ask our b/fs "do i look fat?" "does my hair look okay?" and then guys get pissed when we ask those things. not all guys are like this, but we all know a lot of guys who are a spitting image of what im describing here. and its sad but the world, especially guys still base a lot of things on looks, and anyone who considers looks most important, need to grow up. thats just MY opinion :)

You are absolutely right, that the appearance is only the outer shell of the person. The actual reason I introduced this subject is because I know my open-minded boyfriend has often remarked that he would more or less be horrified if I cut my hair short.
I think that`s a disgusting comment. I mean, granted, you like to see the person you are attracted to looking their best (whatever your opinion on that might be...) but it`s repulsive when men, my boyfriend being only a moderate version of the extreme, are opposed to their significant others cutting their hair.. This is exactly the sort of controlling attitude that provoked women to initially begin cropping their hair in the early 20th century.
I know that women like to ask their partners about opinions on hairstyles. And that`s great.. that they`re getting the input of the person who likes most to admire their appearance. But it`s a totally wrong attitude for the men to proclaim that long hair is the only way to go. Whatever happened to openmindedness and experimentation?
