Colorist recommendation for metro NYC area?

Hi, I`m interested in having my hair colored a bright blood red color, but am afraid to do it myself because I`d probably have a hard time maintaining it and completely wreck my hair. I`d like to keep it somewhat healthy even though what I want requires double-process; the longest part of my hair is mid back and I`d like to keep it around that length. Someone told me Astor Place does color so I might check that out unless there are any other suggestions...

BTW - My hair is thick, fine, and dark blond. It had a semi permanent Redken Shades color that is almost completely faded out now.
