From dark brown to light brown..HELP!!

Quick question..
If I do a Bleach/shampoo cap for few min, what it will happen to my roots??
I mean, since its been quite a while since i color my hair dark brown, I have regrow. If I do the bleach cap, will it lighten my regrow and rest of the hair evently???
Please give me some answers and suggestions...

Just use 1 of the dyes that are specifically for dark brown hair. Feria does it and another loreal 1, excellence I think. I used it b4 and it worked. It was the 2nd 1 I used, the feria colours seem a bit orangey looking but the other 1 promises no brassiness.

A little bit of history.
My hair is naturally Dark brown L3. In july last year I had my hair lifted 3 levels. In December I change the color back (as close to my natural color level 3). the product I used was "Wella 2n Color charm, permanent".

I want to get my hair to a medium to light brown.

Now my questions are:
1- can I lighten my hair to a medium-light brown??
2- How can i go about it.
