Yea, the 2 stands for the guard used...And laying down the hair is basically compressing it, by applying pomade, moisturizer, whatever, and then du-ragging/capping it

First question: What is meant by #2.  Is that the clipper guard?
 
2nd: When some says they are having to lay their down, what does that mean?

Thanks ya'll! I wish I could speed up time so I could get my cut sooner and see those results...But ima be patient. Oh, and LDIZL, I've been getting a #2 WTG..I think it works pretty well for me, This is how my hair looked the same day I got my last cut ---->
