hi peeps, sorry if there's another topic on this, i can't find any threads about it heh..

so i've dyed my hair during march break (march 20)

and it came to this.... (april 11)

ever since the first day, i've washed my hair with herbal essences color shampoo (its meh) and every time red washes out.. so i'm wondering if there is anything i can do that will keep my hair like the red when i first dyed it?

btw i've heard of some colour shampoo called aztec shampoo that has some hair dye mixed in.. will that work?

ok thank you :)

Yes it will help, or anyother hair gloss shampoos. Red does infortunatly fade very quickly, with every wash. You will need to re- do the red again, and just top up with a red colour shampoo, at least every other day.

You don't say what product you used(or maybe you got it done in a salon?).  I would say maybe try a different brand.  I've heard good things about Punky and have used Specials Effects reds with really good success.  Manic Panic does not last as long.

You could also try searching a bit on www.haircrazy.info.  There's a lot of info specifically for bright, unnatural colors.  I think Nuclear Red by Special Effects would look awesome on you(and not fade to nothing in 2 wks!)

I think it would look really good if you put a red color (semi perm) all over.  That way, the darker color would get a highlight, and the bleached parts would pop out.

As for shampoo, you could try getting some semi perm dye(veggie dye, not the kind you mix with peroxide) and mixing about 1 tsp. of dye into your conditioner.  That can help the color stay bright longer.

Good luck!

Goldwell makes a terrific shampoo for colored hair - and it's specific for the color you want (I currently use the gold) but I know they have the red as well as blonde.  You can get it online or if you have a local hair salon that sells Goldwell products, you could try them.  I buy through sleekhair.com myself.

Good luck,
