i just recently attended so cap and hairlocs certification classes, and i'm confused about how many stands to order. so cap uses a mesurement to come up with a number, that is usually between 150-200, and hairlocs says 250 is the norm. the individual strands from each company seem to have the same amount of hair. At the very least thats a difference of 50 stands, and that seems like alot. i don't understand how 150-200 with so cap can be enough hair for a full head, and 250 with hairlocs!!!! Need ur advice!!! : )

Well, I'm not an expert as I only do this a sa "side" type job, but every extension job I've ever done (total of about 35 jobs) has been totally individualized.
I have one client that needed over 275 strand to get the proper finished "look". Until I hit the 265 mark, she just didn't look like she had enough hair.
A different client I have is maxed out at 125, she just average sized, but after 100 bonds theres not much of her natural hair left to attach to or cover the bonds.
I'm not sure how anyone could exactly say how many strands would be needed exactly. It seems that people with very thick hair need the most and people with thin finer hair need the least.
I usually make an estimate based on my pre meeting with the client, where I color and texture match. I always try to order extra hair though just in case, because not having enough hair to do a good job is a bummer (results in mullety looking hair).
Like I said I'm not an expert, but I hope that helps.
It also depends on whether you are going for an improvement in thickness or length. To give a fuller appearance to thin hair would necessitate fewer strands than for someone who wants a dramatic increase in length.

Some people have bigger heads than others too. Some want more realistic looks while others want to look like Chaka Khan. The fusionists I know don't charge by strand, they charge by coverage, half head, full head, highlights.
It does vary from a persons personal preference and your recommendation as a stylists. It's better to order too much than not to order enough, plus you'll need some for their monthly touch ups on hand.
