We actually did not expect to be down but we were switching from one co-location factility to another and unfortunately the new co-location tech support team assigned HB.com IP addresses that were already in use by other servers. 

 

Which meant our down time which was supposed to be zero minutes was more like 8 hours. 

 

We had to move facilities because our old co-location faciliaty could not longer handle our rapid growth.  By the end of 2007 we will have 20 dedicated servers.  Believe me...that is a heck of a lot of hardware to move.  :-)  And quite a difference from the early days of HB when we were a tiny slice of a shared server at a web farm.

 

I apologize to all for any inconvenience.  As you can imagine I was having absolute fits for every second we were down.  I think I called Andrew's cell phone at least 1,000 times during those hours which seemed like days. 

 

One thing I have learned about running an Internet company, what you never imagined could happen...will definitely happen.  :-)

 

Ha Ha.  Yes...still have hair but my nails...that's another story.

 

Actually....one of the HB guys is going to hair school and last night he applied his own hair extensions to the top of his forehead.

 

OKkkkkkkkkkkkkyyyyy.  Well I was careful not to react or say anything this morning that might hurt his feelings or let him know how frightful they looked but I can sum up the results by saying he desperately needs to visit this forum.  :-)

 

He bought some cheap hair at Sallys and used a lot of glue and his hair felt like doll hair.  And the color didn't match from the front to the back. 

 

But he had fun and is now very hot to learn everything about extensions so I guess it was worth getting lots of whispered phone calls today asking me what the H happened to his hair. 

 

It was a shocking transformation and not in a good way.  But I admire his willingness to jump in and give it a whirl.
