Hi Holly, you didn't include your e mail address in your profile.

Hi-lights are basically individual sections of hair that are bleached to remove the hairs natural pigments leaving the hair blonde. Hi-lights can be done in sliced sections for more dramatic blonde flashes, or in weaved sections to blend subtlely in with your natural colour.

Sliced sections- a thin slice of hair is taken, put into a foil then bleached applied with a brush, and developed from anything up to 45 mins.

Weaved sections are  done the same, except the thin sliced section of hair is weaved in and out with a metal tail comb to give individual thin stands of blonde.

I hope this answers some of your question, without sounding too complicated.

Hi there,

I am a 15 year old girl from the UK and I want highlights done at a hairdressers for the 1st time. Can anyone explain to me in detail how exactly they are done? The more you can explain, the better as it will give me more of an understanding.

If anyone has any pictures of highlights being done, this will also be very useful to me if you can e-mail them over

Holly
