Im like Metalgirl, I didnt have good hair to start with, and probably never will if I continue to choose to be blonde My hair is slightly better now than before extensions, but the little bit of improvement is due to no bleaching and a better care routine (not from extensions).
Im in the same boat with metalgirl. Ive always kind of had crappy, thin hair that would not grow much past shoulders. When I was younger, like teens into 20s it was a little better. Im 35 now and its getting thinner. But after wearing extensions about the last 12 years I cant say its gotten any worse. With the exception of GL where I did have some minor breakage, no extension method has caused major dammage. Its always a little scary though when they very first remove them and all that dead hair comes out but Ive never walked out of the salon with bald spots (knock on wood)

The best way for my hair to grow long and healthy was with wefts.
But after I moved to a different City, I never found a trusted Hairstylist which weave system I totally liked, most wanted to cornrow my entire head and don't leave any of my natural hair out which looked so fake on me that I had to tell them to undo it and I just didn't like the atmosphere after I told them that I didn't like this method.
Therefore I stick with my own methods which is two tracks of LG and a few fusion extension.
Now back to the original question, my hair with this system is slightly shorter than it used to be, but it hasn't lost its thickness.
Why would someone force you to do an entire weave when you only want a partial or a few tracks? Isnt it just less work for them?
Ive heard this that weaves are the best way to grow your hair out healthy provided you take good care of the wefts and braids when they are in. Im hoping this is the case. Ive also heard hair needs air and light to grow properly and a weave stiffles this process. Who to believe?? I was of the understanding that hair is like fabric once it leaves your scalp and its essentially dead so why would it need all this air and light?

That's what I'm thinking. Who knows, she probably really thought that this looks better on me or is just used to doing it a particular way, or I haven't expressed what I wanted done, there is a language barrier (German is my first language) etc...
So instead of going through this, I found my own way of doing my hair.

Clearly girl you had a crappy stylist who was not up to date on all the latest weaving techniques.. No reason to do a full weave unless that's what you want.. If she was a good stylist she would know that.. If you have hair that matches your texture you can do a weave and leave your natural hair out to blend.. So good riddance to her, and good for you for leaving her in the dust!!

Yeah I agree. It just seems odd. I wonder was money an incentive? Maybe she thought by telling every client that came in they need to have a full weave she could make more but it just seems silly. Ive thought about doing a full weave for fun. Like completely changing my texture maybe to curly but im afraid I wouldn't be able to handle it and it would start unraveling or something hehe.
Im glad you are doing it yourself but you could also find some really good photos of partial weaves if this ever comes up again and you think its a language barrier. Im wearing only 3 tracks now and all of my hair on top is exposed. I know of some people that have 2 so it can be done no sweat.
