thicker, straight do for fine hair

I have very fine, naturally straight hair that is pretty lifeless no matter what I do to it. I blow dry my hair straight and use straighting cremes, but it isn`t as shiny or have the volume I`d like. I read that article Fine Solutions on this site about good volumizing products and am planning on trying one or a few of them out, but I wanted to know if anyone has tried using a volumizing product along with a glossing or straightening product? Any suggestions on how to get fuller, yet shiny, straight hair? Thanks!
