I'm interested in meanings of hairstyles, what they represent, who used to wear what (native people from all around the world, not europeans), etc.

I know dreads sorta represent freedom and pride. I know they talk about locked priests (in the americas) and locked hair.

How can I find out more about this subject?

Particularly I'm interested in male braids/cornrows in the americas.

How is this hair politics? I don't want to talk about whether or not the slave master bosses and managers at corporations want to ban hairstyles, I just want general information.
