Are you in the Los Angeles area?? Are you referring to the Capelli brand of hair sold in So Cali??
If so, heres my feedback: While I've not worn this hair, I do have some of this hair in my stash.. I had a couple of friends I trust who recommended this hair, and it has gotten some very good reviews. The hair is gorgeous.. I personally would recommend the cuticle hair.. The mink hair also gets good reviews..

I did a search and found this site. Is this the extension system you are reffering to? Im really quite curious now because it says very little about it but it would seem to be a weft sew in system of some kind. How does it work? Anyone here ever used it before?
Krimsa, if you look through the gallery of the site you posted you'll see the technique your extensionist used on your hair. It's on one of the brunettes.

Yes i'm referring to the capelli brand of hair.. I live in Orange County, CA. I'm asking because a salon I called is offering extensions for $235 and they say they use capelli hair. It seems a little too good to be true, so i'm trying to get some opinions. If you live in the area, they're called 17th & Glamour, in Costa Mesa, CA.

Right. MsHoney, it’s on that website I posted. I want to know what they are doing as they claim it’s sew in method or "based on that" but then they don’t really go into that much detail there on the site so I’m curious as all hell now lol.
There are a few photos of brunettes so I don’t know which one you mean Honey. Can you point it out? I would assume they are doing the same method on everyone because they claim its "their patented method" but then they don’t tell you how they do it or show photos of any wefts being sewn in. Do you think it’s basically just a sew in with thread and rubber bands like I am wearing now?
I’m sorry but sew ins or something along those lines have been going on for over 6000 years, pre dating even the Egyptians so they better have some really fancy pants new fangled method if they are claiming "its based off a sew in method" lol

The guy who answered couldn't really explain it to me.. he said it was their own "patented technology"... but it's based off of the braid/sew method.
IMO, that's nice fluffy B.S.
They need to at BARE minimum explain the attachment method in enough detail so that you can make an informed decision.. They don't have to give you a step by step tutorial nor do they have to give you the secret ingredients in their glue, thread, rubberbands, or whatever.. But they DO need to tell you how they will be manipulating YOUR hair to attach the extensions..

I'm guessing it's using the sew in method with rubber bands, but he called them "tethers". I'm not sure what he meant. They show one picture of it being done, but it's so far away that you can't really see what they're doing. I'll try to call again and ask how they install them.
Yeah call them back and ask HOW DO THEY ATTACH THE WEFT TO YOUR HAIR lol. I bet it is just rubber bands and thread. Maybe not even thread. Tethers is fancy pants for "dental bands" lol

Yeah that's what he called them! He said they use tethers. Those are just rubber bands? So basically it's the same thing as sewing except w/o the thread? That doesn't sound too good for your hair. They claim it doesn't do any damage.
Did you call them back and ask them to be a little more specific? I dont know for certain what they mean by a tether. Maybe its something they have patented and its specifically for hair? I just dont see the need for them to be so secretive about it. Did you ask if they use it in conjunction with thread or just the "tethers"? It seems like bands without thread would not grip well enough, especially on fine hair.

Does the price include the hair? Whatever the "tethers" are depending on how many wefts they're sewing in that's a very good price for extensions. Find out how many rows of wefts, the price per weft sewn in and see if they will let you come and see them put some in a clients hair. Most stylist won't mind. If that's too much for them to do then you may want to consider finding someone else to do your hair. You're going to have to decide if it's really that important to you to know the exact details of the technique they're using.
Well I personally would want to know what's being done.. I'm a firm believer in knowing WHAT I am getting when I buy something..
Now they don't have to give up their trade secrets.. They can explain this without telling the secret ingredients.. Besides, if they put it on your head, and you walk out the shop, what is to stop you from going home and de-constructing what they did?? Not a darn thing.. So it won't KILL them to explain what they are doing.. I would think that if they are asking you to pay them for their work, the LEAST they could do is give you details on what you are buying if you ask.. Now that's just me, but stylists who act secretive about what they are putting in/on my head just get no love from me..

Everybody isn't going to care what's exactly is being done as long as it doesn't rip out their hair and cause other damage. They said it's based on sew ins and it seems to be a version of the Malaysian.
I'm sure everybody isn't gonna care.. and everyone should do what they think is best for them.. However,I personally will not let ANYTHING be done to my hair with only a vague explanation given.. This way I can make a fully informed decision if I wish to move forward.. How else is one gonna know that their hair is not going to get ripped out if the method is being kept such a state secret?? If someone is going to receive MY money for a service, then this is what Iexpect beforehand.. Everyone has their own set of standards..
IMO, there are far too many hucksters and sheisters in hair extensions, and some methods are not good for certain hair types or certain lifestyles.. So IMO, it's in the best interest of the consumer to be educated about the things and services you are paying for.. I can't imagine spending money on something with a aura of "mystery" attached to it.. (Good price or not) AGAIN, everyone has to do what they think is best, but that's just how I roll..

In your initial post you asked about the hair. I've heard that it is pretty good hair compared to other beauty supply store hair. Malibu is in Cali. Maybe she can introduce you to her stylist who does her sew-ins. You can find a better quality of hair that will probably last longer for a reasonable price.
