reddish tones in dark brown hair HELP

Hello
I`m so tired of the reddish hightlights that come naturally with my dark brown hair color, I can`t use a permanent dye because I don`t want to damage my hair any more than it already is, so I have been using a semi-permanent dye by clairol (natural instincts in (nutmeg) dark brown) to get rid of the red tones, however they still keep coming back
can anyone please tell me what I should do to eliminate this reddish tone to my hair?
any help would be appreciated
