good ole-fashioned hair tonic!?

Long ago, I was surfing. I found the website of a
barber, in Texas I think who promises good old-
fashioned haircare (his specialty seems to be
giving military haircuts and he uses clippers with
a vacuum for the clippings.) Now one of the products
he offers for sale is "hair tonic." Does this stuff
actually improve the hair? I seem to recall reading
that this is a false remedy for baldness but I may
be dead wrong. What goes into hair tonic and does
it really nourish the hair?
