Advice Needed

Hi. Basically, i have been trying to grow my hair. I really want hair like Josh Hutcherson in this pic, http://images.starpulse.com/Photos/pv/Josh%20Hutcherson-3.jpg. However, i have thick hair so when i try to grow it, it grows out. Also, when it is longer, i spike my hair so it just goes flat so it looks like ive styled it in a windswept way which i really dont like! Anyone have any advice what i should do? I really want to give it a shot but i dont want to be at my work or uni with fluffy hair if i cant style while i grow it lol.

Sounds like in the past you had trouble with longer hair.  You might be able to acheive this cut but would need some high maintanence on it - probably would have to flat iron it....
