My natural hair color is dark brown (very fair skin tone) and I've been getting my hair bleached with highlights in a very light blonde for quite a while now. However, it keeps turning yellow and getting more and more damaged so I think it is time to return to more natural roots (no pun intended).

So I'm considering going with a medium brown with some lighter brown/dark blonde highlights and keeping a few of the very light blonde highlights to frame my face.

That said, should I go to someone who uses Wella or Goldwell colors? Also, anything I should know? I don't want to end up with even more yellow/brass or reddish/orangey browns/blondes............ I want to keep it in the ashy family.

I am a natural blonde and I actually just dyed my hair ash brown last  night. I did it myself with the semi-permanent Natural Instincts dye and it came out nice... not brassy or reddish... I was afraid of that!

I looove natural instincts...

As for the original poster of this thread Pinkpop,If your hair is very light blonde as you say,and you want to go brown,it is going to be pretty hard to avoid those reddish tones without turning green.Light blond+ash brown=green
