Clarifying shampoo: need recommendation

I wouldn't use a clarifying shampoo more than once a week. I'd save it for those times when I really "feel" a buildup.

I forgot about Neutrogena's classic formula. Years ago (in the blow-drying, mousse-wearing 80's), I used it about once per week. I need to check the ingredients to look for surfucants before trying it again. But I do remember liking it very much.

I am also considering trying one of dragone's recommendations. You do get what you pay for, and I probably shouldn't skimp here.

Last night I was doing searches on ebay for Redken, and I found out that Redken does in fact make a clarifying shampoo (or at least they did at one time). Does anyone have any experience with it?

First off, all clarifying shampoos will remove a little color.
So, do you REALLY need a clarifying shampoo, do you swim in chlorine or have well water? Otherwise you don't need to use it very often.

My personal favorites are Sebstian Stark Naked and Abba Molasses Shampoo. Which are both professional, but remember "you get what you pay for". Professional products may be more costly but usually are worth it.

As for dryness. Once a week (or less) you should use a calrifying shampoo, follow with a moisturizing shampoo and a deep conditioner, then a lite detangler or leave-in. Also rinsing with cool or cold water helps seal the cuticle.
