Bleaching dark brown hair blonde

I dyed my hair dark golden brown about a month ago, and a week 1/2 ago I touched up the color with a demi permanent. I want to dye my hair ash blonde and my hair isnt that healthy but not bad either. If I bleach it once from dark golden brown is it even possible to reach a blonde color or will it turn orange? I was thinking of using a 40 volume with bleach or is the 40 to high?

I would suggest you first use a color remover like colorfix. There are a number of them at Sally's. After that use a bleach with 20 volume. This will be less damaging to your hair.
