*Just wanted to share an experience with you all.
First off let me start by saying that I have been dying my hair black for a very long time, max:13-15 yrs.
Just two days ago I decided to change my hair color and I didn't want to bleach it because I had a bad experience at a hair salon at the age of 13, were the bleach damaged my long hair and they had to cut it boy cut short, after that I avoided going to a hair salon for many years.
But just 3 days ago..I went to a fancy hair salon to talk to a color consultant, and basically she said what(I had a feeling she was going to say):"we have to strip the hair" blah, blah and it will take a long process since Black hair dye is the worst color to take out", and Im like okay!
So anyway due to that i cannot afford at the moment a pricey Hair salon just to remove my black color and also I didnt want to go through the bleaching or striping my hair because of the Major Damage it can do.

My Boyfriend and I did some major research on websites and youtube video's looking at reviews for different hair removers..
The List of three were:
#1.COLORFIX By: Jheri Redding
#2.COLOR OOPS By: Clairol
#3.COLOR ZAP By: L'oreal

so I decided to do it myself and go to sally's beauty supply and Buy myself a Box of ColorFix.. so I read the instructions and all, accept I didn't do the last step which in every review i read said NOT to do it. (i'll tell you why in a minute) So, that took some of the black out, not completely but I was able to tell a difference. Then.. this is were i made "THE MISTAKE" since i was desperate and wanted to take all the black out, I went to a local Walgreen and bought Color Oops since that was the second best in the reviews.. I did it just like the instructions and I tell you " It did NOTHING" My hair color was the same.. So at this point I wanted to cry, but i didn't, I Conditioned my hair went to bed, waited till the next day.... then "MY MISTAKE AGAIN" out of desperation I went again to sally's beauty supply and bought the 3rd next best thing according to reviews which was L'oreal ColorZap.. "BIG MISTAKE" did as instructed then "on the Final Rinse" My hair went back to Black!! at this point Im having anxiety attacks!! LOL!!!! So... I did my own thinking (I FELT LIKE A DUMB BUTT at this moment) and said to myself "If the ColorFix did some of the work, why didn't i just go back to that?? well I did another run to Sally's beauty supply and Bough yet Another box of ColorFix and That seemed to have done the best results for my hair..

*Mind you: after ever application, I did a deep conditioner *which is the best Conditioner I had spent money on (Aragan Oil mask) from the same label as the ColorFix and no Damage was done to my hair.. So I was very happy about that.
Now My hair is a Auburn Color.. Just waiting to give my hair a rest then to try and dye it a light blonde with a 30V peroxide. I wonder how thats going to turn out..LOL!!

Ladies:
The moral of this story is that I don't want anyone to make the same mistake I did, Thinking that other products were going to do a better job..
This was an experience for me and I found out that COLORFIX is indeed the BEST Color remover out there without the harsh chemicals of Bleaching and it will not Damage your Hair.
*But always use a deep conditioner afterwards.

Now as I said previously.. In allot of the reviews I read Re: Colorfix Hair Color Remover.. said Not to do Step 3 which is the Processing Lotion. "that My friends will make your hair back to the color you want to take out..
Personally i don't even know why they include it! BUT DON'T USE IT!

I hope you all find this Forum Interesting, Funny & Helpful.
I will keep you all posted on what color will my hair turn out after dying it! LOL!

Thank you for sharing your story, these kinds of stories are always helpful to people.

Please test strand when you go for blonde, if your hair is auburn (red), you may need a lot more lift than 30 volume to get it to blonde, (but since you've done lots of dye, maybe not - best to check first).

Hi Again!

Just wanted to update you guys on what Happened after I tried to dyed my hair a lighter color.
So My hair was Auburn/brownish/reddish...(the after effect from the colorfix) I dyed it a Light Honey Blonde with a 30V)
Well... It turned my hair darker then what i expected.. it took out the reddish color and left it like a chestnut color. which was pretty but i wanted it lighter and you would only tell a difference if I were out in the sun.
My Boyfriend decided to pay for a hair salon and have them fix it.
Well.. after $200.00 dollars of what they called ColorCorrection & Highlights.
I went through the process of the Bleaching which I thought they weren't going to do because I had explained to them what had happened previously in the past.
well to make a long story short, They did the highlights then used a blonde toner, which my hair is now like a yellowish blonde with chestnut brown underneath.. Im content at the moment still treating my hair with deep conditioners because the bleach did some damage to my hair and now my hair is fragile. I'm just going to keep my hair like this for about 5-6 weeks of treatments then try to lighten my hair again.
I know I have made a mess of this, starting from using all those products one after another but "I have learned my lesson".

anyways here are some pictures im sharing with you all of how my hair turned out.
