You are right...I would of never thought this would happen.  Doesn't look bad at all...just one of those you have a hard time seeing with shorter hair.  Like to see her perform with the shorter hair...see if I still feel it.

Yup, her next significant change should have been to realize her skintone works much better with brunette hair. 
 
And here I was hoping that the bob was finally cycling out of popularity again.  I mean when the two primary celebs who jumpstarted the trend this time - Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes - both have hair below mid-back again, I figured the ship had sailed.  However, it appears that Katy Perry, Shakira, and Julianne Hough are trying to prove me wrong...

Maybe this is when the bob jumps the shark? :-)

I like bobs and think certain versions work great on certain people. Sometimes it's a really refreshing, edgy move. But this is not the person or the version. This tame, bland length and plain style doesn't seem to fit Shakira's wild personality at all. And personally, she looks a lot less striking to me now, far more generic and average and easy to overlook.

I suspect she'll suffer one live concert performance in which she can't flip her wavy mane around, and the next day you'll see her with extensions.

From beautiful to merely interesting. But I agree with the comments about color. In the early part of her career, as a brunette, she looked awesome (music was better too!)

Somehow, it actually looked better to me in that first twitter pic. But it's still not awful... could be quite cute if taken just a bit shorter -- maybe an inch or two.
