the flat iron trick will work, I do it all the time...But it might fall over your eyes a bit...I found the best way to do it is to comb it down the way you want while its wet and hold it there with the comb and blow dry with the nozzle directly aimed at it until your roots are dried. You can follow up with the flatiron...I like the sidepart to--and it works reallly well for me.

I have a MAJOR cowlick on the front of my hair line to one side and when I was younger and had bangs it was a huge pain. No matter how much I shellacked and blow-dried it I couldn't do anything. Now I just part my hair on the side that it's on and it covers it up great! Sorry I didn't offer any solutions here - just support
This is because I can spell konfusion with a K
It's hard to like it
It's to dying in anothers arms
And why i had to try it...

in my experience...try to get your hair to not do that and it will with a vengeance!
but then my hair has a natural cowlick, which i hate, so seriously..
if you have hair straighteners then use them on the lowest setting close to the root and flickyour wrist backwards and twist ..then ...don't drag them through your hair, just release and then spray a little hairspray on your fingertips and drag through the roots..should work a treat!
i can't take it no more so i'm going on a shopping spree

Hair has a memory of its own. So if you continue to part it that way (best if it's wet), then it will eventually part itself.

Maybe try putting a clip in it while it's wet, and leave it there until it's completely dry before taking it out, it might stay? Though gel or something still might help it not to fall over the course of the day.
More awesome than a manatee!
