I don't know what possessed me, but for a while I've been wanting to dye my hair black. Sp sunday I went for it - and bought a blue/black permanent hair dye (as I'd tried a wash out one before and it looked fab). I dyed it all, and IT LOOKS DREADFUL. I look like a ghost and I'm ABSOLUTELY GUTTED !! I've been to the hairdressers who say that I can only have highlights put ontop to TRY and lighten it. But I have to wait 2 weeks, and even then she sed it won't do much at all. I've heard online that colourists can actually strip the colour ? Is this true ? I'm an beginner at all this, and this is definately the last time I'm ever gonna dye my hair EVER. I don't care what shade of brown I go back to, just so long as its not black anymore !!! HELP !!! What can I do ? Thanks !!

color stripping is just as dangerous as bleach...what is your chief concern with you hair? if you like the color, but not the way it looks on you, take a gander at your makeup...do you wear any? if you're fair, you need to color your eyebrows and invest in some blush and mascara, even if you've never worn them before... i'm a redhead and i dyed my hair black for years. it looked like a** until i figured all that out...

Lozlie- Do NOT color your eyebrows!! A good Salon can lighten this up for you! Applying a color remover (a pro can do this) and then re-coloring your hair the shade of brown you wish. Don't do the brows, and DON'T do the remover at home....a GOOD Salon will know what to do. As far as the Highlites.....that girl is clueless....it CAN be removed because I did the same once and it worked out just fine.

Good advice! I am so glad you got to her before she decided to dye her eyebrows. Geez Louise, she'd probably look like Groucho Marx! Yikes. And you are right, a GOOD salon will know how to get the black out and recolor a nice lovely shade of brown.
