Things you might try: 1. Dandruff shampoo. I've heard great things about one called Nizoral, but I've never tried it personally.
2. Dilute your shampoo. I recently started doing this because of some discussion on the long hair forum, and it has completely fixed the problem for me. I dilute mine in water half and half and I still get a good lather, but it doesn't remove so much moisture from the scalp - so the problem is gone for me. They say there you can dilute it up to 75% water, whatever works best for you.

I just got rid of my son's dandruff using a 3 pronged approach. I cut his hair super short nearly buzzed. I put pure tea tree oil on his scalp morning and night, scrubbing lightly with my fingernails or a wig brush to stimulate the scalp and remove the flakes. When he washed his hair, he used Nizoral- very very good stuff cuz it's antifungal. Being vigilant with the tea tree oil was key. He was (and still is) flake free within a week. I heard you should rotate the shampoo between Selsun Blue or H&S and Nizoral - 2 weeks on/off.

i heard nizoral works great. alternating between dandruff shampoo is great also. try alternating between zinc phyrotine and salicylic shampoo. salicylic acid to cut the crust and zinc pt to control the fungus growth. using diluted mouthwash ot vinegar as a rinse and scalp massage is also great for removing dandruff. you should look at your diet. if you take too much carb you might get dandruff a lot like i do. my staple food is rice. i tried taking spirulina tablets. it worked great at preventing my dandruff, while giving me extra energy and keeping my skin smooth.
I don't know about straight out of the lemon. Lemons are pretty acidic. I could see this working in dilution. The reason the vinegar works (people usually dilute that too, something like 1 tablespoon per 1 cup of water) is because it acidifies the scalp which helps balance it's Ph, and that helps reduce the dandruff. So lemon in dilution would probably work the same...but some people get burned pretty easily when they come in contact with acidic stuff so I'd hesitate to tell anyone to use a straight lemon.

I regularly clarify with 1/2 cup of vinegar in 1 quart of warm water. It keeps my hair from getting buildup, I assume, because I've never had that problem. It never did anything for the condition of my scalp, though.
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?
