With the economy so iffy these days a great way to save on food is to freeze things. If you have a larger freezer it can be a big money saves. You can stock it with sale items you purchase in bulk and save a bundle.
The key is to know how long things will keep in a freezer and to be sure to mark the date of purchase on all items to avoid eating something past its prime.

Bread - Up to 1 year Ground meat - 3-4 months (when bought fresh) Beef steaks - 6-12 months Fish - 2-6 months Whole poultry - 1 year Lunch meats - 1-2 months Fresh veggies - Up to 1 year Fresh fruit - Up to 1 year

I agree freezing things can be a great way to preserve foods you want to prepare at a later date. It also saves a lot of time on those busy evenings.
