I just saw this on Home Shopping Network! Believe me, they looked
much worse on TV than they do in these pictures.

And if your hair is so short? How is it supposed to hold this heavy
clip anyway??

I can only imagine how bad these things look in real life.

Oh, I saw these demonstrated, too, a few nights ago! I thought they looked like something my cats would like to wrestle with!

I know, don't those ponytails look like they're just hanging on for dear life? And as if you couldn't tell these things are attached with a claw, especially when they show the chick in the baseball cap! It doesn't look like you can do much with them, either; *flip it this way for a casual look, flip it that way for a polished look!*

Don't you guys just love the way the shopping networks hype the dumbest things?

Thanks, Grover, I really needed something like this this morning!

I actually have a clip-on ponytail that works beautifully; however, I had to perform a slight modification to get it just right. Mine (I posted pix a long time ago then promptly lost it) is long and straight (falls to BSL) and originally had a clip-on attachment. This, however, looked anything but natural so I removed the claw from the hairpiece. Underneath was a drawstring pouch. I pulled my hair into a tight bun, positioned the hairpiece over it and cinched the drawstring tight around the bun.

This way, it doesn't stick out and my real hair is completely and compactly hidden. You would NEVER know it's not the real thing, and it's a perfect color match too! Personally I love these kind of hairpieces (I own four, ranging from updos to buns) but you have to experiment heavily to get it just right!

Brown comes in two shades, blonde in six?! Thank goodness I have my own ponytail.

Oh it's not quite that bad. According to the site. there are four browns (one has gold highlights) and four blondes. Much more balanced, but I still wouldn't give up my ridiculously TressAllure for the world :-)

Bwahahahahahaha

Lyris....2 questions:

Is it stable?
The last time I wore my hair in a pony-tail to work, it got yanked...and yanked...and yanked. Would that squirrel's tail stand up to the yanks ?

Does it hurt your scalp or pull your hair?
With a normal croc clip you're just bearing the weight of your real hair which your scalp has got used to gradually. So adding this stuff on...just wondered if the extra weight, or the mechanism, would hurt you? Are the things that secure it to your hair smooth i.e.without seams?

This is fascinating stuff .

Cheers
Uzi

They might be fun for a special occasion when you want to do something different with your hair. You know, like wearing a hairclip that you wouldn't wear on a daily basis because it's damaging or too much of a PITA to deal with in *real life.* To be fair, it didn't look too bad on the model with the very long dark hair, who clipped it on under her own ponytail.

I had the greatest scrunchie type deal with curly fake hair wrapped around the elastic. It matched my hair color and looked insanely real when I wrapped it around a bun. It looked like a perfect curly bun...till it fell out one day.

Mmm. That's true, Jean. It is fun to have BIG hair once in awhile. Yeah, when you can put these things under your own hair, they don't look so bad.

The problem for me is that everyone you see that knows you is going to know you don't have that much hair and that it's fake. It's kind of like padding up your bra for a special occasion, and everyone can see you have done so, because they know you are not so well-endowed. I would just feel self-concious wearing a hair extension like that.

I did once pull up to the drive-in at McDonald's and the gal at the window had long beautiful hair in a ponytail out of the back of her McD's hat. I complimented her on her beautiful hair and was surprised when she told me it was fake!

Yeah, it's sort of like one of those gift baskets that has one of those display inserts. It's disappointing to think you don't have as much there as you'd like or as someone else expected.

Hi Uzi,

The kind I've got looks and feels completely natural and yes, it does resist inquisitive yanks and pulls. I didn't feel fatigued wearing it either. Again, the key was removing the claw attachment and using the drawstring pull around my bun. The next time I wear it I'll post a pic. :-)

btw, it was a Revlon TresAllure hairpiece. I believe the style was "Seduce," and I got it at Trade Secret. I've seen it online as well.

No thanks, I don´t take pride in pointing and laughing at anybody/anything.
Actually I own few hairpieces myself and use them underneath my buns or create hairdos of them.
Mine look natural and you can´t tell the difference.
But I do have some goth- friends who occasionally use bright red and blue extentions and hairpieces. They do not look natural and that´s just as fine too.

Lyris, I have to say the fake ponytail looks very good in that photo though from your expression it must be a painful to wear.

Haha! No actually I was caught in the middle of one of those devilish muh-wa-ha-ha laughs. It's very comfortable and very light for something that's 17 inches long. The key is anchoring it with enough bobby pins. (Which of course means that I'll never be able to wear it in the airport...can you imagine having to remove your hair in front of everyone?!?)

You're right! It does look good. Much better than those ladies on HSN.

Wow, your teeth are white!

i used to wear purple clip on extensions but then i just got bored putting them on in the mornings and gave up. when i got my hair cut WAY to short by some idiot, I used to ear a clip on pony but it was heavy and sorta fake looking. because my hair was healthy and shiney but the pony was synthetic and SUPER fake looking shiney and yeah.

as of now i just wear my own hair.

SG...my secret is Crest Whitestrips. They're great...as long as you don't mind drooling for several hours a day!

Benji...my college roommate had a blue ponytail that was so shiny it was very nearly a mirror. She loved it though.

Aww thanks Uzma. I get bored easily and have to change things frequently. I wish I could say my hair is that long already, but alas, that is an old picture. However I estimate my hair should be about that length by the end of 2003. A happy new year it will be! :-)
