So, as noted on another board, everyone's favorite Dr. Who redhead, Karen Gillan, took on a bit of a different look for her role in the Avengers 2 run-up, Guardians of the Galaxy, as shown in this tweet.
I'm absolutely stunned. She had gorgeous hair, and this is definitely a gutsy move. Will it make her career? Probably not. But in the same way I noted I lost respect for the woman who agreed to shave her head to get a job and then backed out, Karen just won massive respect points from me. I don't even like the bald look -- I just applaud her for doing what it takes to do the job she took.
Her hair will be back and gorgeous again in time for the premiere, I'm sure. And although I wouldn't be more surprised if she had walked in, slapped me upside the head, and then left without saying a word.... she gets a big thumbs-up from me.
Now, if someone could find a way to console Kramer... Maybe some pics of Angie Everhart in her prime, or something?

Well unlike other bald movies that flop this one has a chance to make it big. It's Marvel they have not had a flop as of yet. Yes it was loss I do not like bald look either. For a good pay check she did the right call.

Not sure I heard of this actress before any of this, so I don't need consoling, but thanks for the thought. As for one gal earning "massive respect points" from you and another losing your respect, I think that's a load. Anyone has the right to change his or her mind. Happens every day.

They do have a right to change their mind, and if a friend of mine said she was going to shave her head and then decided she wouldn't, I'd have no problem with it. The problem is when the person takes a job from someone else who was willing to do it by saying they'll do it, and then tries to get out of it. It doesn't matter if it's shaving your head or working certain days of the week, one's word should be kept. Call me old fashioned in that regard.

Hopefully this works well... But the long road has begun, and Karen tweeted a pic from a press conference that shows the pixie-ish stage of her grow out.
Now would she have to shave it again if they do another Guardians of the Galaxy? Just asking.

That's an interesting question, Mike -- In the comics, Nebula is the daughter of Thanos, who is already known to be the Big Bad in Avengers 3. It'll probably depend on what other projects she has going on. (See: Jessica Alba becoming a blonde for Fantastic Four, but resorting to a wig for the sequel.)
She wears a none-too-convincing wig in the trailers for her new sitcom coming in the fall. I think I'd just about prefer she wore it short on the show and let us watch it grow out.
