Have any of you tried products such as those by Phytologie? Just curious...am trying to find info on some of it myself.

I,too, saw this "recipe," but in another magazine. I bought all of the oils. After 4 months, I saw no difference, so I discontinued using the formula. However, each person is different and you may have more success than I. Good luck!

Hi,
I am a 21 year old female and have tried everything for my thinning hair. It is so devistating for me... My scalp is stating to show in spots. Anyway, I have tried folical stimulator spays, vitamins, shampoos (with biotin), henna treatments, weekly oil treatments. My dermo said that there is nothing wrong with me. I had my thyroid tested and everything. He prescribed Rogain with Retin A lotion. I refused ... I am so young, and didn`t want to become dependent on it. My doctor suggested using it becausse the FDA is supposedly going to be approving a whole bunch of treatments soon. Any other suggestions for this frustrating problem? What is this cream that you guys are talking about and how does it work?

Thanks for the reply...So you think it worked for you hugh...God I`m having a hard time keeping up with all these beauty treatments...I just started using Polysorbate 80. The dermatologist of course said Rogaine...Female pattern baldness he says, that`s what they all say when they cant explain Why your losing you hair....I dont know the oils didnt seem to make the condition of my hair any better? But I have a lot of them, dont have any sage though. Every one suggests somthing different....Three times a week I guess I can handle that...I wonder if I can use the polysorbate withthe oils...hmmmm, I let you know...thanks again, Carol....

Hi, I have used essential oil therapy and it works, but it takes time. I had started using Rosemary oil combined with cedarwood, lavender and clary sage in a base of jojoba oil. I was using it 3 times a week and massaging it in. It took about 3 months to work but I noticed a dramatic decrease in hair fall out. It was incredible and I was thrilled. However, i made the mistake of attributing it to my new diet and vitamin supplementation and exercise regime, and i stopped doing the oil. 2 months later I started loosing hair again. I realized then that the oil is what kept my hair on my head, and not everything else. So I have begun once more. As i said, it takes about 3 months to see results, and from my experience, it would appear you have to do it for ever. But to me it`s worth it. It makes my hair soft and shiny and I like the smell. I use a gentle shampoo and don`t process my hair. I use the oil prior to exercise or going for a walk, this generates heat and helps the oil penetrate. I remember there for a while I didn`t even have to massage, just put it on, go for a walk, and come back and wash and it still worked. Try it. You don`t have to leave it on over night. Good luck.

Dear Karen,

Hello. I have naturally curly hair and it`s dark brown. My hair is 50% gray/white and I have been coloring it 4 years using L`Oreal Excellence Permanent Hair color Cream #5 Med. Brown with 20 Volume. Also, I add to the color RGC, which is eliminates brassy, red, and gold tones.

Well, my hair stylist has noticed that I have lost my curliness and the hair has started to flatten out on top. Also, I have had an increase in MPB and thinning on top. I am concerned about the thinning and lost of curl, which I believe has an association to the hair coloring. Can you suggest anything as to the above situation? BTW, I have very stubborn gray/white hair and I am concerned about my continued use of hair color possibbly causing more hair loss and thinning.

Sincerely,

Niko

Hi,

I went through a period about 2 years ago now where my hair was really falling out. I was totally freaked. I went to several doctors who could not figure out what was wrong. I finally went to a specialist who did a test and found that my thyroid was slightly off. Slightly was the key word because two other doctors before him could not find anything and told me it was all in my head.

I was put on thyroid meds and my hair got better over time. Then I went to a naturopath who told me that hormones might be impacting my hair. I started using natural progesterone cream and WOW my hair was back to its normal self.

I also changed my diet and starting eating on the Zone plan and it helped a little too.

When I lost a lot of my hair in the 80s because of crash dieting I was able to have great luck with a hot oil massage made with real Basil oil. It made my scalp tingle and I noticed improvements.

I know that sleeping on an oily head is yucky. I used to pin a thick towel to my pillow and pin my hair in a soft bun. That helped so much.

Hang in there and keep us posted.

Best wishes,
Karen Shelton

Karen, I too am borderline hypothyroid. The strangest thing is that the last test I had a couple of days ago came back normal. But I have read that sometimes this happens. I have had the test done twice before that and my thyroid was slightly low. The doctors did not think that it was necessary to treat it. Consequently, in the past year, the symptoms (hair loss, fatigue, dry skin, constipation, low plasma levels (yes, that`s right. I had to get a blood transfusion about a year ago), sensitivity to cold have increased. I am going to an endocrinologist who was recommended by my family practitioner in a couple of days. I noted that you were on thyroid meds for a while. Which one. And did they help your hair to grow back thicker over time. I am also interested in using natural progestserone cream. How do I get my hands on it? Is this a topical cream that is massaged into the hair each day? Any help you can give me will be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Karen. Well two Doctors have said there is nothing wrong with my thyroid... The frustrating thing is that the doctors seem to only guess at what`s wrong and eventually write everything off to stress. Being a women this was one problem I wasn`t prepared for! I think hormones are a big component as I`ve noticed tremendous changes in my body when I hit about 41, problems with cysts and such. I have progesterone cream but I`m never sure how often and how long during the month to use it? What carrier oil did you use with the basil and how long did you continue the treatment? A couple more bottles of oils can`t hurt and if your interested I just found some cellulite remedies I`ll be trying also Ha! Well if nothing else I`ve found I love the JoJoba oil-makes my hands feel teriffic...This board is great, keep up the good work and I`ll keep you posted...Thanks Carol..

I like everyone else on this board is experiencing Hair thinning and loss. Im a 42 year old female. I`ve been to my Doctor and she sent me to an endocrinologist. Neither say they can find anything that would determine the cause. My next visit will be to a dermotologist. I`m truly frighteded. I`ve started supplementation with Saw Palmento and am taking a whole host of other vitamins and supplements. I just read a small clip from prevention magazine I thought might be of interest...scalp massages with essentil oils of thyme, rosemary, lavender and cedarwood mixed with jojoba and grapeseed oils....Ive just started this treatment if I notice any results I will post them on the board..they said it was from a study done in Scotland. If anyone else has any info on this type of treatment Iwould appreciate the feedback. It`s kind of a pain going to bed with an oilly scalp every night...but I`ll give anything a shot. I`m not going to go through the rest of my life with no hair.
