Help! Redken Shades EQ gloss

Hello! I've used Redken for years to do my roots. I am strawberry blond and my hair was quite faded. While the roots were being done yesterday, on the mid-length to ends I blended EQ gloss in 2 shades that are the closest to what I use on the roots (9NW blond, 8C coppery). But the gloss came out way too dark, like ash-beige. If I try a lighter blond to mix with the red, how soon can I do this? There's no lift to EQ gloss so it a lighter blond will not lighten my hair, right? How can I lighten this up? Thanks!
