I tried getting my answer on the hair general topic board but it was drown with other things.
The other day I heard on city line from a stylist that our hair can stop growing for three months straight. Now i had to go out that door that exact moment so I couldn`t find out why or how often it happens.
My question is does this only happen to us once in a lifetime or every so many years?

Please anyone that is a qualify stylist please answer this.

I`m not a hairstylist but I think I read somewhere that hair does indeed go through a period of non-growth, for anything up to 3 months, and that this can take place as often as every two years. It might be called "telogen". I hope someone who really knows can bail me out here!

Hi diane I am a hairstylist .To answer your question Yes hair does go through stages when it does not grow for up to 3 months at a time . However , don`t panick because it does not all stop growing at the same time . All hair strands grow at a different rate. while some are growing the rest is ( taking a break). This is why it is so important to get regular trims , since it does not grow out evenly . I hope this helps .

I`m a hair stylest as well and i`ve never herd of hair just stoping growing for no reson. i do know that in the summer and winter your hair will grow at different rates. In the summer it will grow faster and slower in the winter. Another reason your hair may slow in growth is stress, in severe cases it can fall out in patches. Your hair will grow back when you can deal with the stress better or if the stress is gone.
