Hi, I was just wondering if perms for guys are still in style? If so, what styles look good and are popular? My hair is only about 4 inches long and I have been told it would probably need to grow some to get a perm. I was just wanting a new style and a perm was suggested.Thanks.

Go for it, guy! In my circle they're definitely in still. We're kind of old style Italian, where appearance and attentive grooming is still something the men in our family and circles take a lot of pride in.My Uncle recently got a terrific looking soft perm. He had wavy salt and pepper colored hair, receding hairline but still thick on the top and all around. Other than his big, bushy, broomlike 'stache he'd kept his hair kinda coventional. But his new girlfriend encouraged him to let his hair grow out. After several months it got kinda wooly and thick, a little radical looking. But after a month or two of that he finally got enough length to do it up into a short ponytail. He always used a gel or pomade to keep it laying flat but because of his basic wavy hair texture, loose ones always wiggled free especially the really curly ones at the back of his burly neck. After a month or two of this, his stylist suggested a loose perm and it looks great! Kind of looks like the statues of the Roman Heroes, you know?I'm lucky enough to have naturally curly hair, which I used to mange by keeping it cropped. This Summer his efforts inspired me and I decided to let my curls grow out. At this point mine has devloped quite satisfactorily as bunch of loose, scattered ringlets. But I'm thinking as it gets longer I'm going to want more more of a coil than a loose curl - not really dreds. My uncle's salon suggested that around the first of the year or so I get a spiral perm. Would love to have more info on this look.

Hey Sal,The spiral perm does look pretty good. There's a site naturallycurly.com and info all about them. Good luck man!> That's great! Go for it, guy! In my circle they're> definitely in still. I did mine last year and really liked it. I'm a swimmer so I intend to do it again, after swim season is over since it (the water) does a lot of damage to my hair anyway. Might even color it a bit as well.> Hi, I was just wondering if perms for guys are still> in style? If so, what styles look good and are> popular? > I think it is great that a guy would get a perm. Guys should get an idea of what we sometimes go through to look good for them. Besides I am sure a lot of guys would look cute in curlers and sitting under a dryer. I hope everything goes well with your perm.

Truth is this week-end after our bath, my girlfriend actually set my hair in curlers so I could get a sense of how I'd look with a tighter curl. I've been contemplating doing my naturally loosely curled hair in a spiral perm. I slept over night with the curlers and she carefully took them out in the morning. I liked it, but thought I should have more length so will probably wait and do it when my hair gets an inch or two longer. And yes, she did say I looked "cute" in curlers!

I have very straight hair that I hate, and I am considering getting it permed like justin timberlakes of Nsync. Not the afro he has been wearing lately but like when he had the top curly and the sides and back shaved. Let me know what ya think.
