I was wondering how fast hair grows. I am a freshman in high school and my friend and I have decided to grow our hair until we graduate. My hair is shoulder length but it is healthy and grows kind of fast. I plan on getting trims to keep my hair healthy. My question is how long will my hair be on graduation day 3 and a half years from now??
Hi Amber!Generally, hair grows about 1/2 inch per month (of course, there are exceptions). If you went 3-1/2 years without a haircut, your hair would grow approximately 21 inches (this is considering that you have straight hair). However, if I were you I would definitely consider getting a trim (1/8 inch or so cut) every other month just to remove split ends. If you got a trim every once in while as it grew, you would probably have 5 to 5-1/2 inches of length per year (or approximately 18 inches long in 3-1/2 years). Regular trimming would result in very long, healthy hair. To imagine how long it would be in one year, simply fold a sheet of notebook paper in half and place it at the end of your hair now. To imagine how long it would be in two years, hold an entire sheet of notebook paper at the end of your hair, etc. Of course, genetically your hair may grow faster. One word of caution: some people can't grow their hair past a certain length, no matter how long they go without a haircut. I guess it's genetic.Good luck with school and with growing your hair long. I hope my information helps! = )Laurie
