Nice to have a name to go with the login.. how beautiful. Oils, in general, have helped me tremendously! Without carrier oils like jojoba and coconut, my hair would be a frizzy wild dry mess.
Oils, not on your scalp though. Bi weekly treatments of Egg Yolks, with olive or grapeseed oil..Any oil, they're all good. Leave that treatment in for an hour, wash out. Leave in conditioners, after every wash. Dont wash with shampoo, use conditioner, it really works. Shampoo is drying, if you must, use baby shampoo.

I would have to say oils, as well. For a while there this summer I piled on the conditioners, ´cause I had to wash my hair every day (pollen!), but it just dried it out in the long run. Oil is really the best. I´m always struggling with shampoos though - it´s such a chore. I have found a lotion for the scalp at the pharmacy, and when I use it I don´t get breakouts and dryness, but on the other hand it gets greasy in one day. Arrgh!!!

In addition to the oils and conditioners, gentle care is essential to maintaining hair's health. Carefully detangle, starting with a wide-tooth comb (fingers, if you encounter a knot).
Tell us about your hair, how long it is now, what is your goal length, etc.

--jojoba oil- closest to natural skin and scalp oils. --coconut oil- sold in a solid but it melts in your hands. Two varieties exist: one that melts at 76*F and one at 92*F. -- sweet almond (some people find this to be a cheaper alternative to jojoba), wonderful light oil. -- extra virgin olive oil (may be a little heavy for finer hair but you could still give it a shot) --shea oil (yes, they now make shea oil). -- avocado (less of a shelf life than jojoba and coconut, smells a little funny but that's okay) -- macadamia (good shelf life, smells nutty)

yup, i agree with everyone who mentioned oil. my super long hair would not look half as good as it does with out it. (i use sweet almond) i also love hair masks, both clarifying and moisturizing. ..::vanessa::..

I've never used oils. When I shampoo, I only lather on my scalp. For conditioning and shine, I swear by John Frieda Glistening Creme and Redken Glass. I also use Shea butter occasionally. I always let my hair dry naturally -- no blow drying. I get 1" trimmed off the ends about once a year. It's been waist-length for more than 10 years now and I'm really pleased with how healthy it looks and feels.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)
