prom hair

ok, prom's in a few months but it helps to be prepared. i have hair that's a little above average curliness, but not like a fro or anything which is a little unusual so it's hard to get any decent advice. so anyway, i can straighten it or leave it curly but it's medium-long length so i can't get too creative. any ideas for prom? semi-casual or up? minimal or poofy? gwyneth (like the oscar bun thing) or leelee sobieski (like that time where it was all down and curly)?
