I have a freind who wants to cute her hair off about chin length, which i hcertainly do not object to in and of itself considering i wear my hair very short. The problem lies in the fact that she has a round face and often complains of being heavy. I feel that cutting her hair right to her chin with no style would just make her face look more round and she would feel even more like she is overweight. i am looking for a suggestion for a haircut that won't take too much effort but will flatter her face.

Keep it just below chin length. If it will curve at the chin it draws the focus down and will lengthen the look of her face. above chin starts to widen the face , wich is what she would want to stay away from. The other extreme is to go with a short style that is cut above the ears with fullness at the top and sides. this lifts the face and also adds focus on eyes. That style depends on the thickness of her hair as well. Hope this helps!
