A perm (short of "permanent wave")is a process by which
hair is put in rollers, then covered with a corrosive
substance to make it softer. If it is left on too long, the
hair will look fried. After a while, a "neutralizer" is
applied to lock hair in its new position. But afterwards,
hair is still in a damaged state. Oprah Winfrey and some
other women also, lost all their hair after a perm. If I
were you, I wouldn't risk it. And it looks phoney. (Look
at some of those "mall hair" women in the '80's and
you will know what I mean). Stright hair is nice.
