Yes Gord long hair rocks. I will always agree to this. I just want you to respect women`s wishes.
Being bitter. Well I will take that as a compliment being that I always respected my husband`s wishes to never allow men on the internet to see my picture according to his rules, nor did i ever respected any men sending me nude stupid pictures of long hair women and think that was art, nor did i ever allow myself to be part of a long hair collections to some men. Gee Gord don`t be so personal. Just accept that. i have hight standards and was a very good wife. yOu want to insult me . Fine. Don`t expect me to agree with you when it comes to disrespecting women. I am not continuing with this. You posted something that should have been on the hair politics.

Duke,

I understand what you are saying.

I used to work in an office full of fashion-trendy women. Heaven help the woman who wore the "wrong" shoes, the "wrong" color, and Lord help the poor soul discovered to be wearing K-Mart clothing. Don`t get me wrong, I shop at Goodwill by choice!

Some women (please note that I said SOME) feel compelled to give in to many things, fashion being a big one. I do it myself in some ways...color schemes of the home can be one example.

But the subject is hair.

If a woman thinks that her long hair is as drab and lifeless as it is portrayed on the commercials, she may rush out to buy that miracle product, get that miracle haircut, etc. to fit the bill of the latest, the greatest, the hottest in fashion.

Then again, some women are simply ready for a new look, and not giving in to the demands of fashion, but perhaps genuinely tired of a style or just in the mood for a change.

For others, I guess if it makes them happy, they should do it. For me, naw, I`ll just save the money I would be spending on all that extra stuff and use it for cheesecake!

We are few and far between, but we are proud!

Karen Marie

Dear Karen Marie:

I know that the message is for Duke but I had to point out something.
what makes you so special Karen Marie is that you didn`t have a fear of showing your passion and it shows all over your web pages. Personally I admire you very much for your strength and openess in sharing your knowledge. Yes women like yourself are rare. I will tease you and say it wasn`t money that made you decide to save. It was something within you that was so strong and made you happy with your decision. I am sure that once in a while you buy fashion etc but you have no lack of confidence when it comes to your looks and how you present yourself.
I had a mentor that visited this site and others and had very long hair. All of sudden she decided to cut her hair and some people really resented her for it. She knew I would understand her position in life. I am very protective of my internet friend. I was sad because this was my mentor and then I realize that it is nice to have a mentor but the most important thing in life is to be happy with ourselves .

My grandmother would say when we are totally happy with our lives we can move mountains without problems that eveything that is awful flies off our backs and it doesn`t affect us. LIke that stupid talk show that never influence you one bit. No harm in asking you but you knew what you wanted and had no problem saying it. That is the powerful beauty within you. That what makes you one of those very rare and special women and believe me don`t ever allow someone to talk you into something that you don`t want to do or you will personally regret your decisions.

IN my make believe thoughts ( BArbie my favorite doll)I think that Barbie had it made with all her careers and yet she kept her hair. Barbie knows how to have fun, gets all the good looking guys, careers and never looks old with her hair and I think if we women come a tiny bit close to Barbie`s nature we wouldn`t have any problems lol. The idea behind Barbie was she could do anything and never stop dreaming.

Why do a lot of woman hate guys with long hair? I have thick blonde long hair down to mid-back, and I have heard women say behind my back that they hate my hair. They say things like "he would be a nice looking guy if he had short hair", or they refuse to go out with me based on my hair style. I was thinking of cutting it a year and a half a go, and I am glad I didn`t! I would have been growing it back right now!

Good Luck!

Darrin I can`t answer for everyone but I can explain my own thoughts.
Up to the age of 18 I grew up in a home that my father was military. The community was tight knit and no males had long hair. It never really crossed my mind what my thoughts were. For me this was reality and was accepted. My own late husband had a similar type of background. Many many times I heard nasty things about guys thinking of growing their hair when I was growing up. I will not repeat it because it hold no truft nor I believe in that.
This country girl moved to the city and today is surrounded by men who have long hair and are very attracted. I tend to have art friend and last year was invited to a art party which included over 60 people or so from all kinds of working backgrounds but mostly artist.
All those guys had ponytails including my male friend that I have known for at least 20 years. The other guest were TV personal, writers, etc and had short hair.

I think it is hard to break from that kind of background but if we are expose to the type of background I am in now women accept more. For me long hair on a man that is kept clean, trimmed draws my attention wondering what he is all about. What is the mystery for this guy to grow his hair etc.
People put so many labels on others. I know that I have worked hard and is known to be pretty acceptive of others and their choices now.
It is very much our flaw as human to judge others.
