Here is a question to you all. I had shoulder blade length, one length hair and then tried a new hairdresser. Now I have layers all over and look like a male 70's rock star. Should I chop off the length (back to semi blunt),or keep growing it from here.

Hey Nikita (excellent name),

I just had a recent hair problem, so I know exactly what you mean. My decision was absolutely no more cutting. It'll grow and all blend together and you'll no longer look like Joey Tempest (remember Europe). That's who I thought I looked like a week and a half ago. How long ago did you get it cut?

Everyone on this site has been so supportive and helpful. You came to the right place for advice.

Smile,
Nekita

I got it cut about two weeks ago. I thought it looked a little odd, but then I thought maybe it looks modern. About a week ago I asked my husband whether my hair looked like I was out of "Spinal Tap" the movie. His pause was all I needed to confirm my thoughts. I guess that I'll wear it up for a while.

Thanks.

That's funny, Spinal Tap was just on TV over the weekend. Your husband must have been impressed that you used that movie as a reference! :)

After my haircut, I went out and bought some hairclips, but if you're used to wearing your hair down all the time, like I am, you won't be happy. I'm starting to get used to it, and I know you will. I read that hair can go into shock after cutting and takes a little while to settle. What's made me feel better is looking at every woman's hair that I see, and realizing that the layers that I have (and you probably have, too) are not much different. We're just not used to it. I'm banking on the loose rule of hair growing 6" a year. I also started taking vitamins (Flintstones contain Biotin, which everyone recommends - and they're inexpensive and don't smell bad like the GNC vitamins).

OH... BTW... after my disaster cut, I thought I looked like I had a girl-mullet. The sides are so much shorter than the back!

Just curious... is your real name Nikita, or did you get it from the (sadly canceled) TV show?

Nikita is actually my gorgeous dog who has the best hair I have ever seen. She is a beautiful 6 year old Malamute Lab X that we picked up from an animal shelter.

This is off the subject, but oh my I love that movie. La Femme Nikita. What a wonderful name to give your dog!
