Sadly I have the same problem! I suggest using Charles Worthingtons Results ($8 @ Walgreens) or getting a short haircut like Becca on Sorority Life (on MTV). I`m not sure if the short haircut will work because I havent had mine done yet but HERES HOPING! :)

Does anyone have any other sugesstions for poofy hair? I`d really appreciate it because I`m nervous about getting my hair cut short and layered because if its still poofy after well then I wont be able to pull it back into a ponytail or do anything with it....I`d appreciate any suggestions at all! Thanks :D

getting a chin length cut when you have hair that is very thick and goes poofy is a MASSIVE mistake!!!! it goes triangle shaped, and you can`t get into a ponytail if it is layered aswell. Trust me, I did it myself!!!! keep ur hair shoulder length or longer because the weight of all your hair holds it down. :|

Well I NEED a new hair style because right now I have NOTHING to do with my hair. I`m not saying chin length but maybe something like style #6010....part of it is chin length but not all of it. Or maybe a loose perm? Someone help! I have an appointment at my salon for Wednesday, the 14th and I dont know what to have done!! :( My friends all tell me that I would look cute with my hair cut like Beccas on Sorority Life (MTV) but I`m not sure...HELP!!

Don`t cut your hair short if it`s already messy long! Hair uncurls the longer it gets. Instead of cutting it short, get hair extensions, it`ll pull it all down and uncurl it a bit, and make it tidier. You can do more with long hair anyway.

What is the obsession with copying other people`s hair anyway? Especially short hair. You should create your own hair. Long hair is more changable. I`m not saying it`s not okay to have short hair, but you should make up your own hair and not follow others, and not think in terms of trendiness , which is generally short hair.

My hair isnt curly, its just thick and poofy. Many people have told me that getting my hair thinned and/or feathered will fix my problem. My hair appointment is two days from now so I`ll let you guys know if its a go or a no :)

I strongly advise staying away from a perm. That will only make your hair bigger. Perms are good for those with fine, limp hair in need of some serious body, but for people like you and I with puffy hair they can make it even bigger. Thinning shears can really help at the salon. Good luck...let us know the outcome!

Actually I sort of do agree with Lyris and I sort of don`t. First of all, I have really really thick wavy/straight hair since both of my parents have absolutely thick hair. Anyways, beginning of July, I got a perm. And yes, it did make my hair look bigger until recently, I`ve been having very good hair days after I got a perm. It really depends on how you take care of it. But it will not necessarily make your hair bigger, it will look big unless you know how to take care of it really well. It`s really your choice. Anyways yeah, so I would suggest getting layers and having your hair thinned. It will make your hair a bit more manageable. Well at least it worked for me...but yeah good luck!

WHO-HOO! My poofy hair is G-O-N-E!! :D I am so happy! I got it layered so that the front flips in and the back flips out. I use Aussie Spray-In Conditioner everyday after I get out of the shower. I put a lil mousse in it and then I blow dry it (ALWAYS!) and it is not poofy at ALL! My friends all say how cute it is and how much they love it! If your hair is poofy you might want to try what I did. You`ll like it :)

Hey, I have poofy hair too!! I have a solution, sort of...it worked for me this morning!! Yey!! What i did in the shower and at the blow drying process was different than usual. Ok...in the shower I used shampooed and conditioned. But then i went back to condition again. How i did this was split my hair in half, like in between the ears. I conditioned there really well. Then rinse. When you blow dry it, make sure that u use a brush while you`re blow drying it--most likely a vented brush. You guide the blow dryer down the hair with the brush, just kinda follow it. THis helps to keep it down a lot. i hope this helps!!! Tell me whether or not it did tho. THanks,
Jessie

I found my solution! I used to have really poofy hair too but I went to a new hairdresser and she sorted it all out for me!
She said when I wash my hair, massage the roots while it is dry first, then concentrate the shampoo at the roots. She said that the ends would be washed when the shampoo ran out with the water. The hair has to be sqeaky clean, so rinse for a couple of minutes. Then she said to concentrate the conditioner on the ends because they were getting really dry. For shine she said that I should do the final rinse with ice cold water because it tightens the cuticles and they reflect the light better. Then she said to gently squeeze the water out, and pat it dry. Then she said to run some `REDKEN, outshine, anti frizz polishing milk` right through it to stop frizziness. When she blow dried the hair, she said I should use a COMB instead of a brush because a brush is used to bring volume to the roots. Then when it was dry, it was still a bit poofy, so she ran straightening irons through it all, section by section. THE RESULT WAS SOOOOOOO SEXY! i have the best hair now!
