Hi
I'm going to go to get my hair cut, and I know what I want. I just don't know what the style is called!
Here is basically what it is:
- Straight haired people have it (a lot of asians do)
- it has layers/ it's tapered
- the ends are kind of uneven like this --> WWWW
(kind of)
Please help!

Just ask for what you want done, I doubt if you need to know the style name, there possibly isn't one. I don't like classing everything into non personal styles, it's a bit too conformist.
Just explain what you want done, that's what I always do.

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee take at least one or two photos with you of the style you want to have created on your hair. Why? Most stylists are very visual and they need a reference point. If you just try and describe it you are have the potential of being disappointed. If you take photos then the stylist can talk to you about your own hair texture and type and then work to get a close approximation.

I get so many emails from unhappy customers that went to a salon and "described" the cut that they wanted but did not take a photo and wound up with something completely different that what they hoped for.

The other issue which Vineman so wisely addressed is that there may not be an appropriate name for the style you want or the name may vary from stylist to stylist or even state to state.

The photos are the only way to go. If possible, take a photo that shows the back, front and sides. Also, don't hope that they stylist will know the celebrity that has the style. They may not, which puts you right back in the danger zone.

The style im thinking of is actually for long haired people....like to mid-back.
