QuoteReplyTopic: long hair and work that hates long hair Posted: August 21 2001 at 1:32am
hi i am a guy and i am trying to grow out my hair long, but however my work really can not stand having hair long because where we live in (bible belt, if you have hair longer then 1" they condemn you.) i have to wear my hair in a hat, but unfortunently i am having trouble stuffing the back of my hair in the hat becauseit has the stupid hole in there.
I was wondering of some suggestions to keep it up in there so that it won`t end up falling out of the back of the hat.
Thanx bye bye justin

Hey Justin,
How Christian is it for people to presume they may righteously judge their fellow human with regards your hairstyle choice? I thought that God alone will serve our judgment. I say to hell with their *self-righteous* judgment and do what YOU want with YOUR hair. Let their words have no meaning to you. You`ll feel more self-confidence when you make that step.
If your hair in the back is long enough to "fall out of the back" of the hat, perhaps you could tie it off with a simple ponytail holder.
Hope this helps you.

Yah i can kinda do a pony tail, even though its long enough to pony tail the back i can`t do my whole hair in one yet, and when i do put it in a pony tail and in the hat the rubberband part of it shows...it looks less likely for me to be yelled at about my hair, but it still looks a lil` tacky hehe:P

only prob w/ that is that its a uniform hat, and there are none like that...would i might be able to tuck it in easier if i use a hair net? there is also a uniform hair net blieve it or not yeck

you could try getting lots of braids put in. that way it would control your hair a little more. and then you could loop them on top of your head under your hat, hehe. Otherwise, be yourself!

Hmmmm..... I find this very interesting. I work for a LARGE computer outsourcing company in Fort Worth, Texas (home of the Texas State Baptist convention.... don`t get much more Bible belt than that...) and the bosses here told me as long as it was neat, clean and tidy, no problem. BTW.... my hair is between mid-back and waist length. Keep it in a ponytail at work. No problems!

no, actually, the artistic reditions of Jesus from the Renaissance depicted Jesus with long hair because it was popular for men to have long hair at that time. In Israel in Jesus` time it was not. The Bible, in the Apostle Paul`s Epistle 1 Corinthians chapter 14 it says "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? " This is where Christians get the idea a man should not have long hair. And this also shows that Jesus really could not have long hair, as He certainly would not have His apostles teach it was shameful, all the while wearing it. This is not to say that I personally think a man shouldn`t have long hair or that I`m right for appreciating guys` long hair either. Sometimes a guy`s hair is just so beautiful I think he should let it grow. I am a guy, and if I had a full hairline I think I might be tempted to have long hair myself!
