Silky Straight Hair on Models in Gallery

Hi Valentine...Well it just so happens that I personally know how all of the model's hair was prepared for the photo shoot in the Gallery.First there hair was carefully brushed to remove tangles. Then it was washed in Aveda's Shampure shampoo. One washing with shampoo carefully applied to the scalp and the lather carefully blended down the hair shaft. Then Aveda Deep Conditioner was applied to the ends and halfway up the hair. A tiny tiny bit was applied to the top of the hair. Then afte letting the conditioner sit for about 5 minutes, the hair was rinsed in lukewarm...not hot water. The final rinse...which is about 2-3 minutes is in cold water.Then the hair was towel blotted to remove excess moisture. Then sprayed very lightly with Aveda Curressence Spray. The hair was then picked out until all the tangles were removed and the hair was straight. The hair then received about 1 dime size of Aveda Elixer conditioner carefully applied to the entire head to protect against blow drying.Finally the hair was blown dry upside down on the COLD air setting at the lowest speed and finger picked while the air flowed through the hair. When the hair was perfectly dry, it was carefully brushed out with a Battalia brush and then a teeny tiny amount of Aveda balm was applied to seal in everything. A curling iron was used in some cases (mine) for just a few seconds to turn the ends under.Viola....long and silky and shiny, shiny, shiny. I think the cold water rinse and blow dry along with great Aveda products does the trick. You have to remember that most of these models spend a lot of time and money on their hair too. But the cold air and the combination of Deep Conditioner and Curressence spray with the Elixer and balm really work.If you have any other questions...please let me know.Best wishes.Karen

Hi Gigi....Congratulations on keeping your hair long. Yes...it takes some time but it will be worth it.Here are some of my own personal long hair tips that may help with your questions:Find a good shampoo that works well with your hair (I like Aveda, Phyto and Fuerter) and wash your hair with the same product all of the time.Carefully brush or pick any tangles out of your hair before you wash it. Don't apply shampoo directly to the ends of your hair. Apply it to the scalp and work the suds gently down onto the ends. Treat the ends of your hair like fine lace. It has been on your head the longest and is the most delicate.Always apply a deep conditioner to the ends only. Even if you don't feel the rest of your hair needs conditioning. If you blow dry your hair...always use a leave in conditioner to combat dryness.Never brush your hair when it is wet or damp. As far as the ponytail breaks...how about either using a softer scrunchie or maybe applying a little leave in conditioner like Aveda Confixer or Phyto #7 to the area of your hair where the ponytail clip sits to protect it.I am sure the people on this board will help a lot. I appreciate your support.As far as more updates to the site....please check out the new article on the two different hair buns...the undone/messy bun and the slicked back bun. We actually have photos scanned in so you can see what they look like.I have actually tried both buns and I love them. The messy/undone is similar to the bun that Jennifer Anniston wore recently on Friends is pretty hot right now. It is a lot of fun.I wore the slicked back bun today at work and got a lot of compliments.I am looking forward to some of your personal stories.Take care.Karen
