What is the best way to apply Aveda Anti-Humectant pomade? Should it be applied when hair is wet OR is it only good for hair that is blow-dried straight (my hair is very curly)? I need something to help smooth down the top of my pony tail when I pull my hair back. I want it to look slick and then full of curls. Right now, it is frizzy fly-away, and not the slick look I want. My curls are under control now, thanks to Karen recommendinf Aveda Flax Seed/Aloe gel. I've tried that gel on the top, but it doesn't work as well at smoothing out the frizzies as it does on defining curls. Are there any products that can give me a smooth look without damaging my hair and not allowing it to breathe, preferably one with natural ingedients. If so, I can always return the Aveda pomade. Thanks!----Marsha :-)

Have you tried Aveda's new Phomollient? I use it on the top of my hair to smooth all the fly aways down when I do a bun in the back. I am assuming your question is you need something for the straight part on top then you are happy with the curls in your ponytail? If so, the Phomollient is great for slicking down the part that is drawn back. C~> What is the best way to apply Aveda Anti-Humectant> pomade? Hi Marsha & Cheryl,I discovered this hair trick totally by accident the other day. I wanted to condition my hair and so I poured a tiny amount of the Aveda Beautifying Oil into the palm of my hand and massaged it into my bangs and sides of my hair. I fully intended to go into the kitchen and whip up some hot olive oil and do the length of my hair with hot olive oil and some lavendar and basil oil (my own recipe). Before I got oil the rest of my hair I got beeped and had to run out of the house in public. (Yikes) I didn't have time to wash my hair. Since I had only put a little of the Beautifying Oil on the bangs, top and side of my hair but not the bulk, I put the rest of my unconditioned hair in a ponytail. The top of my hair and my bangs were slicked back because of the Beautifying Oil.I thought I looked dorky but I actually got 3 compliments on having the latest "slicked back" look. Let me tell you...I did not have any flyaway hair. I actually decided that I liked the look.Yesterday I added a tiny amount of Beautifying Oil to my bangs and brushed them to the side. Then I added the rest of the oil to the sides and top of my ponytail. I added 1 hot curler into my ponytail for just a few minutes and I had a great curl and shiny top and side hair. And I discovered this all by total accident.Soooooo.....the bottom line...why not put just a little bit of the Beautifying Oil on the top and sides of your hair and leave the rest of the hair curly or up in a ponytail. It worked really well and when I did get around to shampooing out my hair...it was very soft and shiny from running around for 1/2 a day with B. Oil in my bangs, sides and top of my hair. You can use the Pomade...that also works well. And you can use the shine product. Just be sure not to use a lot or else you may not like the results.Let me know if you try it and if you like it.Thanks,Karen> Have you tried Aveda's new Phomollient? Daer Karen & Cheryl,Thanks for the tips. I think that the oil would be a good idea for when I have a more natural curly look, without gel, which I opt for once in a while. I've done that with oil sheen sometimes, but the Beautifying Oil might be a better option. When I use gel, however, it is a wet look. I want the top of my hair to have the same wet look. Can I achieve that with the Phomollient? The gel doesn't control the fly-aways.I did try the Aveda Anti-Humectant Pomade. The results were pretty good. My hair is a bit damaged from a previous bleaching that is growing out. It is also curly and the bleached part is on the dry side. Will the pomade allow my hair to "breathe" so that it can heal?I also recently tried Currescence. I was reluctant because of it's price. I actually like it. I don't really like the scent though. I like the scent of the Deep Revitalizing Conditioner though. Awe, well... as long as my hair gets in better conditon. I'll keep everyone posted on results. I do a lot of my own personal hair research. I love every minute of it! I wish I could get a job where I researched the molecular structure of hair and how to improve its condition, but i don't see that happening. A girl can dream can't she? OK, enough babbling. Thanks agin for the wonderful advice. This is my favorite board.----Marsha :-)

Hi Marsha,Yes...please keep us posted. If you do find a job where you get to do all that great hair research let me know and maybe they will have openings for two. :-)Thanks for all the feedback.
