Dear Karen, et al...I am absolutely loving this site! I stumbled upon it as a link to Frank Ploennisen's Long Hair Site. "Hair Talk" has helped me with all sorts of tips... I love reading about other peoples' long hair routines!I began seriously growing my hair last summer and it's currently at 26 inches. My goal is to have it to my waist... 30+ inches. I just turned 30 and was afraid I should be getting over my desire to grow my hair long... then I saw some of the postings on this site about long hair over 40 and I felt re-energized! Why should you have to cut your hair just because you reach a certain age? I am a professional in the financial industry and have been told that if I cut my hair, I will look more professional. However, I wear it in a tasteful bun or french twist every day and think it looks far more professional than the cookie-cutter bob everyone else wears. That's so boring.I've used the George Michael products since last summer and have found that the only produce I really like of his is the 12 minute conditioner. It's like a pure protein cream that really nourishes my hair. I haven't liked his shampoo too much, though, because it makes my hair sticky and lifeless.I have begun to use Lousie Marie Longhairs products and have found that she has some of the best shampoos going. She also has a fabulous conditioner that I also leave in, called "#10 Protein Conditioner". Also, her S.O.S scalp stimulating oil rub is great to use right before bed!I've made up my own concoction of hair oil that I use as a natural hair sunscreen and conditioner if anyone's interested. I'd love to hear what other folks on this site have concocted on their own to help their hair growth and condition.Jen

Hi Jen,Thanks for the kind words and I am so glad you are enjoying our site. Yes...please post your own personal hair recipes. I learn so much from every single posting and I appreciate when people take the time to share their own personal experiences. So many of the people on Hair Talk have been great about sharing long hair tips. (Thanks everyone)I also appreciate your information on Louise Marie. I have her products on my agenda to test this summer. I have been getting lots of really great feedback about her stuff. Even though I am still very partial to Aveda, I am always willing to try new things and will definitely try the products you recommend. As far as being professional....I am a manager in the telecom industry and I wear my hair down most of the time. I am also over 40 and plan on never cutting my hair again in this lifetime. :-) I am so glad you are going to let your hair grow.I am looking forward to your posting with your personal hair care tips.Regards, Karen> Dear Karen, et al...> I am absolutely loving this site! Hi,I agree with you. I think this is one of the best hair boards on the Net and everyone (Cheryl, Dawn, Jennifer, Laura, Noreen, Karen, etc.) is so helpful and willing to share. I would love to see your personal hair recipe too.Sarah> Dear Karen, et al...> I am absolutely loving this site! I stumbled> upon it as a link to Frank Ploennisen's Long Hair> Site. I> love reading about other peoples' long hair routines!Although I am new to participating in this site, I love it too. Welcome, Jen!> I began seriously growing my hair last summer and it's currently at 26 inches.> My goal is to have it to my waist... 30+ inches.Wow! Musta been pretty long when you started... and/or grow quickly. Good luck on reaching your goals. Since you started last summer and it's already at 26 inches, I'm sure you'll get there!> I just turned 30 and was afraid I> should be getting over my desire to grow my hair long...Hmmm... this is very sad. I sense that the concern you expressed is widely shared among women as they pass "base-10 milestones." I should think that as one gets older and wiser, one should feel MORE confident in the pursuit of their interests. Right?> then I saw some of the> postings on this site about long hair over 40 and I felt re-energized!Terrific! Bravo! Hooray! You grow, girl! ;)> Why should you have to cut your hair just because you reach a certain age?No reason at all... it's just "society's" test of your desire and will to have long hair, and of your ability to recognize the idiocy of that lame "rule." Sadly, some fail... but Congratulations to you -- you passed the test! :)> I am a professional in the financial industry and have been told that> if I cut my hair, I will look more professional.Let's see... you have long hair, and you are a professional. Period. Those who offer such unsolicited criticism should re-evaluate their perception of their own professionalism.> However, I wear it in a tasteful bun or french twist every day and think it> looks far more professional than the cookie-cutter bob everyone else wears.> That's so boring.Fully agreed on both counts.Dave
