Since I became a regular net user I have become convinced of two things: that it is very hard to find exactly what interests you first time, and that the internet is now too vast to be policed, monitored or classified from outside. However, I believe that with our right of access to such vast reserves of information comes a responsibility to police and monitor ourselves. I visit 'Hairtalk' because I am interested in styles and styling and therefore I also explore other hair sites - however nothing cheeses me off more than waiting for a (large and probably graphics-rich) site to download only to find that it is either just a collection of photos or is a fetish site. Here in the UK we don't get free local phone calls! What I propose therefore is that we need a central 'links' site to which we could submit brief details of new sites when we find them in order to avoid others having to engage in lots of pointless surfing. My suggestion is that sites be classified into 4 classes:S sites = sited dealing with styles and style ideas C sites = commercial sites from salons and product manufacturers P sites = mainly pictorial sites F sites = fetish sitesIn addition I suggest that the site has a link to the 'pedowatch' anti child pornography site and that any content found suspicious is reported by the finder to them and the site is blacklisted. What do other people think, is it workable and are we interested? Also would Karen be willing to manage it?Andy

Andy,I didn't mean for my first post to sound so sarcastic.I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for. But, Dave Unger's "HOUSE OF DAVE" has a lot of links and they ARE broken down into different categories. If you're like most people at this board, you may like his long hair links section. Again, Maybe I'm missing the boat (it's happened before). But, The URL is http://www.teleport.com/~davidcu/ if you're interested. Click on "HOT LINKS", on the right side column, second from the bottom. Email me if it doesn't work. Without the URL section anymore, I can't test the address. Hope this helps.

Hi Brian,You have Dave's URL correct. I just want to mention that Dave's site is on hold for a few weeks. Dave is going into the hospital on Tuesday for some surgery and he won't be able to update while he is recuperating. He has asked me to let everyone know that he hopes to be up and running again in a few weeks time. I will keep everyone posted on how he is doing in the meantime. Take care...Noreen> Andy,> I didn't mean for my first post to sound> so sarcastic.> I'm not sure exactly what you're looking> for. Hi all,Noreen, please give my best to Dave and let me know how he is doing. He is one of my favorite web people so please tell him my thoughts are with him.As far as classifying the sites, thanks for your thoughts Brian. The first ones made me laugh and I always love a good chuckle. :-)I am pretty busy with this site, but I did talk to Jeff this afternoon about what it would take to actually provide this service.I hope at some point to get our links a little better organized and maybe that would be a good compromise. We are adding links on a constant basis and they are almost all hair and beauty related.I am going to think on this a little more before I made a decision.Noreen, please keep us informed about Dave. OK?Thanks so much.Karen> Hi Brian,> You have Dave's URL correct. I just want> to mention that Dave's site is on hold for a few> weeks.
